Location: Bradford’s Farm Butcher’s Shop, Little Horsted, Uckfield TN22 5QP
Bradfords is working beef and arable farm, located in the beautiful Low Weald between Lewes and Uckfield. The farm is owned and run by Michael & Kathy Fordham, whose family have farmed in Little Horsted for over 100 years. In the late 90’s the Fordham’s started a programme of diversification to cope with the falling profitability of traditional farming, offering services such as group tours, farming workshops, caravan storage and a small caravan site.
The shop was opened 4 years ago in 2006.
What do you stock?
We specialise in locally produced, naturally reared meat, poultry, eggs and milk from our own and other local farms. We are a traditional butchers shop and all meat is butchered to the customers requirements, plus we hand make all of our own burgers, sausages, etc.
Where’s it sourced?
We rear own our Aberdeen Angus herd and also have milking facilities on site. Everything else we get in from local farms.
What’s your favourite item(s) in the shop and why?
Our award-winning Old English pork sausages – our customers rave over them and they win many awards.
Which are your favourite local producers and why?
Sharon Barnard from the Old Dairy at Furners Green. She supplies our eggs and some of our pork and we butcher her meat for her shop. She works really hard and is always cheerful and fun. She also makes excellent cake!
Apart for selling local produce what else happens at your farm/farmshop which readers might be interested in?
We have a small Caravan Club site by The Laughing Fish pub in Isfield and sometimes host caravan rallies. We also provide pre-arranged tractor and trailer tours of the farm between Easter and harvest.
If visiting, what else should readers make sure they do whist in the area?
Make sure you check out Stavertons nursery and greengrocers shop at Halland and if you’re looking for some refreshment I can whole-heartedly recommend The Laughing Fish or The Halfway House pubs in Isfield.

Wed, Thurs, Fri: 9am – 5pm.
Sat: 9am – 1pm.
